Microsoft Store Path

Store MSIX is the default public release path for new WinUI 3 apps in this lab.

Flow

Reserve app identity
  -> build MSIX package
  -> run Windows App Certification Kit
  -> prepare listing assets and privacy policy
  -> upload package in Partner Center
  -> certification
  -> Store release and updates

App-Specific Work

The existing Store account does not remove these tasks:

  • Package identity.
  • App name reservation.
  • Store listing copy.
  • Screenshots and logos.
  • Age ratings.
  • Privacy policy if personal data is collected or transmitted.
  • Support/contact details.
  • Restricted capability declarations.
  • Certification notes.
  • Package versioning.
  • Release timing and rollout choice.

Signing

MSIX packages submitted to the Store are re-signed by Microsoft after certification. Do not buy a code signing certificate just for a Store MSIX path unless another distribution path also needs it.
